Twister on Tuesday

August 17, 2010
A good book I read while I was on vacation was Twister on Tuesday, a Magic Tree House book. Annie and Jack get whisked to a prairie. They find a school house, where 3 kids were learning. Jack was working with a older student. He wasn't very nice. In fact, he was a bully. When they get the writing for Morgan to save Camelot they can leave. But as they get to the tree house there is a tornado! Annie and Jack go and help the kids and the teacher. Is everyone o.k? Find out in Twister on Tuesday.
Right now I am reading Earthquake in the Early Morning. Its about the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906. I like these books because they have real facts in them, like the great San Francisco earthquake and tornadoes.
If you are reading the Magic Tree House books or have read them, I
hope you enjoyed them!

  1. Grace, I love that you spent so much time this summer exploring your passion of weather. You have:
    1) blogged about it
    2) read about it - fiction and non-fiction
    3) listened to books on tape about tornadoes and tsunamis (you should blog about them since they were so good!)
    4) you now watch the weather channel for fun!
    5) you discovered video clips on weatherchannel.com
    6) you are learning about radar, warnings and watches
    7) you are noticing interesting cloud formations
    8) you know that Atlanta did not have a tornado in 100 years before the tornado of 1998.
    9) you worked on a weather fact book (I would love to see you complete this! It is such great work)
    10) you are improving your library skills by searching for weather books.

Wow! Are you excited to start your science program - all about weather??

  4. I have a feeling you have a future in meteorology or one of the many other sciences if you decide to continue pursuing your passions. Enjoy! Let us know what other good books you've read - whether or not they're related to weather.

  5. Weather is interesting Grace, isn't it? It affects all of us and everything on the Earth. Plants (your garden) and animals react to the rain, sun and temperature. We all live in the weather every day but too often don't take the time to really see it- like the clouds, the rise and setting of the sun and the affects of it- like squirrels gathering nuts for the winter, leaves turning colors, reflections in puddles, snowflakes. Gosh! Snowflakes!! What is your prediction? When will we get our first freeze?
