Ice Skating

Every Tuesday we go ice skating. I used to ice skate all the time! I did it for three years. I was really good. And now that we go that we go every week I am regaining my strength. Here are a few videos of me that my friend took. Enjoy!!!!!!

No Eclipse?????????

Yesterday my mom told me about the winter solstice/eclipse and how they fell on thesame day which hadn't happened in years. I wanted to be woken up so we could see this. At 3:15 this morning my mom went outside to see if there was anything to see. There wasn't!!!!!!! The clouds were blocking the view! It was a real bummer. It was the only chance to see this happen on the winter solstice. So we didn't see any of this eclipse/winter solsice. I was going to have a video to share, but I don't. Maybe next time I get to see an eclipse I will!!!!!

Winter Wonder Land

This morning, Fashionbug woke me up to tell me it was snowing! We ran down the stairs to go tell my mom. She said that it was just freezing rain. So that's what woke me up at 6:00. Me and Fashionbug were so excited. I ran to get my camera. I got some really cool pics. Me and Fashionbug got our coats on and hats on [ boy did we need them! ]

Turn your head sideways

It was freezing out!!! The cars were covered in ice. The dogs had made prints in the ice! It was a great morning. I know that Bethany got snow. After all the picture taking, me and Fashionbug went to go move around our room. To all the people who got snow, I hoped you enjoy it. And to the people who did not get snow, you will!!!!!!

Haunted Hike

We went on a girl scout hike on Saturday. All of my friends were there. Lets just say my mom said this was going to be a fun hike, but it was not. And I'm going to tell why. It all started when the hike just began. We were all walking [ we were in groups ] and then someone jumped out from behind a tree! I screamed. My mom said that she thought that no one was going to scare anyone. I said to one of the parents that my mom is going to be freaked out! So we went on with the hike. Let me tell you the next scary thing.

We came to a Alice in Wonderland booth. This is not the scary part. Here we met Alice. She drinks the potion and then goes inside the booth and out comes as this little girl. [ If you have ever seen the new movie you know what I'm talking about. ] We all go inside the booth and out comes the madhatter. He said that if you saw the red queen run! She wants to chop your head off!!! And then the red queen JUMPS out and we all ran! My sister and her friends stared at the guy that chops the heads off. He said to Lilah and her friends that you might want to run or I'm going to chop your heads off!

 Lets go on with the hike. When we got to the last booth, our tour guide said to us that this one was scary.  I choose not to go. I stayed outside with a parent. Her little girl went in! Just by the sounds I was scared. After everything was done we got treats and juice. Once I met up with my parents [ they were in a different group ] They said that that the both was scary. My sister went in without knowing that you could stay outside and was terrified!

And my mom said that this was going to be a fun hike. I don't know about you, but Halloween is not my favorite holiday.

I've also learned that red cabbage juice powder stinks. Pee Woo! And I've learned that there is such thing as wizards. Also that citric acid bubbles with the reaction to the other chemicals. Bones

Yesterday, Lilah found found bones on the sidewalk in our town. One long one and one that looks like a mouse. We went to get my mom because she wasn't with us. We showed her them, and asked if we could take them. Of course, she said no. My mom went back to the house and me and Lilah went on looking for more. And guess what? We found a lot more!

We found some more after mbut we caught up with her. We were trying to figure out what kind of bones they were. We think a critter might of been going through the garbage and they could of been chicken bones. And that one bone I really think was a mouse. But you will never om left, know!

The Bird Feathers

We went to the Audubon on Wednesday. We were early so we went into the bird cages. There was a Great Horned Owl! I really like them. There was a feather of the owl so I took it. Me and Lilah went around collecting all types of feathers. I wanted to do writing with ink like in the olden days but I didn't have a feather. But that afternoon I got one! That feather had a long end in whitch I think will be good for writing. The color on the left side was a lighter gray like a rainy sky. But on the same side, the right side, it was a darker more black color like a black fire place with dust bunnies on it. On the other side lies a more darker color like a stormy sky. The feather feels like my dog, Daphne, because the feather is more straight haired feeling then fury.

I also got alot more feathers, but I wont explain all of them right now.

day 2 of school

       We started school yesterday Mon. 7 2010. This is my first year homeschooling. So far we are doing a lot. Like in reading. We're doing biography’s. I’m reading Zlata’s Diary. So far, so good. In writing we're making dull sentences into detailed sentences. In math we're just doing a easy review. Around one we get a hour of free play. In my other school we would get only a half a hour of free time! And then most of our afternoons are free. So far I’m liking it. Our dogs sometimes come upstairs and learn with us! [ Or we bring them upstairs.] I’m excited to do new things and go to new places. I cant wait till activities start up! Like the Audubon classes. I also take piano and flute classes. 

                I think I am going to have a fun first year homeschooling!!!!!!!!  

Twister on Tuesday

                     A good book I read while I was on vacation was Twister on Tuesday, a Magic Tree House book. Annie and Jack get whisked to a prairie. They find a school house, where 3 kids were learning. Jack was working with a older student. He wasn't very nice. In fact, he was a bully. When they get the writing for Morgan to save Camelot they can leave. But as they get to the tree house there is a tornado! Annie and Jack go and help the kids and the teacher. Is everyone o.k? Find out in Twister on Tuesday. 

                     Right now I am reading Earthquake in the Early Morning. Its about the great San Francisco earthquake of 1906. I like these books because they have real facts in them, like the great San Francisco earthquake and tornadoes.

         On one sunny 90 degree day, 2 girls, Katie and Emily were at home, in the air conditioning, playing a board game. The curtains were open. They started blowing around. All of a the sky out side went black. “ Looks like there’s going to a storm,” exclaimed Emily.

                 “ Yep,” answered Katie. Even the dog, Max, knew a storm was coming. He whimpered and went to the girls. It started hailing and getting windy. 

                    “ You o.k. boy? ” asked Emily.

                                             10 min. later

                       “ Thats funny, ”said Katie. “ I fell popping in my ears. Lets put on the weather, ” said Katie.

                            “ TORNADO WARNING, ” the TV kept saying. Then the power went out.

                               “ There’s going to be a tornado,” said Emily. And right when    she said, a tornado was racing down the street.

                                                How did Emily know there was going to be a tornado? Write your answer in a comment. The right answer will be on post in 2 weeks.

ESPN

                  I went to ESPN for a friends and family tour. Joe was our tour guide. I bought a new notebook from the ESPN store. Here is some of my thoughts from my notebook:

                 Some people have worked here for 25 years! This job would be cool, just watching TV and reporting all day! Maybe I’ll get a job here! Were where all of the TV shows are. The show, I’m in the band, is on Disney XD.  We see people doing a commercial.  They’re on towels with bare feet, it’s so hot! I got to go in a real studio.  And sit in real studio chairs! There are TV in the desk!  A football field on the ground! (but with no grass) There’s boards you can put down to change the field into baseball and basketball, but the football field stays in place underneath. There is a pathway leading to the studio. Now we’re in Sports Center!  There are more TVs in desks! I got a basketball script.  I can’t believe I’m in Sports Center! I’m in a control room with more TVs, and people and computers, and people working on computers. 

Who wouldn’t want to watch TV all day?  I would like to watch basketball all day long.  I had a exciting day!

                                   

  

  

Bridgeport and Lordship's damage

Bridgeport got a TORNADO! It ripped off  roofs, took down trees and power lines, and just did damage. It was way  worse than were I live. Lordship was closed to everyone else except for people who live in Lordship. And on our Main Street, a tree took down power lines. That part of Main Street was closed. My uncle is a police officer, and went to help Bridgeport. Me and my dad had to go to the dump. And we drove around Lordship [where we could go] and there was a lot of trees damaged. There was this one tree that was uprooted! The grass was all ripped out! It was my first time seeing a tree like that! And part of Lordship is still closed! We were quite lucky. Who would want a tornado?! I was scared with this storm, I would be freaked out with a tornado!   

Storm Update

Did you get the storm on 6/24/10? We sure did. I was watching the sky and saw a bolt of lightning! After that it really started getting windy. I showed Lilah the outside, and we ran to mom. And right after we got to mom, a big branch fell off the tree! There’s some good fire wood! We almost had to go in the basement! We were so scared. I was shaking and my heart was pumping. And the piano tuner was here! Me and him were predicting the storm would be here by 2:20, and it was!

The storm was gone pretty quick, with a lot of rain, wind and thunder!
